Breathe
--Centuries ago, men fought over the right to land. Then the war moved to the fight for clean water. Now, nations are pitted against nation for air. The world is divided between domed cities and regions where humans are left to make a choice: share the air and die sooner or hoard the air and watch their neighbors die.

Carving Egg Shells--An elderly woman spends hours every day carving intricate, beautiful designs into the shells of various kinds of eggs. When her son announces that he can no longer care for her, it creates conflict in the family that threatens to crack family bonds forever.

Pages--It was an accident. No one really intended for the vast amounts of world knowledge to be stored only on the World Bank super servers. They were deemed infallible, self correcting themselves before any real damage could be done. Human kind had transformed into mere translators of information. The few knowledge generators passed their information directly to the servers and no longer to other humans. Everyone had access. But that was before the accident. Now, wars were fought over scraps of paper, the remnants of artifacts called books, as humankind tried to pull themselves back together and start over.

Chicken Scratch--When Riley left her rural community of Ragwood two decades earlier, she vowed that she would never be back. As soon as her high school commencement concluded, she threw her bags in the back of a friend's pick-up and left her bewildered parents and a young man who loved her in a cloud of dust. Now her father is dead and her mother is distraught. As Riley heads toward the small town of her youth, the world seems to slow down and she is filled with dread. Can she face the demons that drove her away or will they finally get her for good?

227--She was just a number. When a distraught young woman emerges from an abandoned building weilding a bloody knife and little else, authorities try to piece together who she is and how she got there. Right now, they only know one thing: She calls herself 227 and the blood on the knife does not belong to her.

Route 6--For Therese, life has been anything but easy. From an unfulling job to an unfulling marriage, Therese decides to leave it all behind. Packing her bags, she sets out on a journey that will change her forever, but first, she has to make it beyond Route 6.
